As of May 8th, 2012....

...This is what I know so far:
This year's BEK is spy themed. I would LOVE suggestions for games and activites that are effectively spy-ish. Our big key words will be "Unite" "Trust" and "Lead". The Bible stories we will be telling are about the fiery furnace, Saul becoming Paul, and Joshua and the spies that went into Canaan.

There are 7 people going:
As for the adults, we have:
-Jason, this year's fearless leader and super-awesome dude;
-Judy, an overall nice lady;
-Tamara, another lovely lady and a clerk at Grace's bookstore.

Then we have 4 graduating seniors going, as well:
-Sanchez, fellow Westfield Shamrock, and this year's comic relief,
-Joe, from Carmel. The only way I can possibly describe Joe Jasin is "Joe Jasin."
-Bri, also from Carmel, and fellow Japan fanatic. She's been my very good friend since 6th grade and I'm SO thrilled she's going to be my partner this year;
-And then me.

Craig Boyer, Teri Capehart, and Paul and Jacky Otto arn't going themsleves, but they have already done a MAGNIFICENT job helping us prepare. They will be supporting us stateside the entire way.

Joe and Sanchez are in charge of the skits we'll be preforming. I beleive the best way to word my reaction is this: I can't wait to see what they come up with. 0_0; But really, it'll be great.

Bri and I are in charge of the "lead" classroom. We'll be teaching the story about Joshua and the spies.

I'm super excited for the 2012 BEK team! It's full of great people and amazing talent. I know God handpicked them all to help each other be the best they can be. I have a feeling we'll be doing great things for God's kingdom over there. I can't wait!!!

We have lift off!

The letters are out, the first meetings done, and it's starting to feel like summer more and more every day. Japan will be here before we know it!

Our plan for the trip is to put on a "BEK" (Bible English for Kids) camp at Kurume Christ Chruch for both attending children and kids from the community. Think of it like a short VBS. There will be worship, games, Bible stories, skits, and so on. We will do this for three days and then pack up and do something else; possibly head up to Sendai to help out with disaster clean-up. (Yes, there's still stuff to be cleaned up.)

For those of you who were on board last year, this may sound very similar to last year's plan. In fact, it pretty much is the original plan. But plans don't always work out, and that one certainly didn't. We ended up doing our BEK in Okutama, Japan, for Fukushima refugees and children from the community. It was absolutely, positively for the best. :D

Last thing:
Thank you so much for taking time to check out my blog. It means SO MUCH to us knowing that people from all over want to keep up with and support us, even though they can't be right with us. You guys are awesome. God bless!
